Nick named 'the Love Boat' after the classic 80's television show; in 2026, Princess Cruises turned sixty but that's not all. The cruise line also celebrated fifty years of creating cruising memories in Australia,' and both are a brilliant milestone in the cruise industry. It feels like only yesterday that Princess Cruises launched their first ship 'the Princess Patricia' in 1965. A list of events in the Princess Cruises Time Line from 1965 to 2021 is available via this link.
During my 2026 cruise, the amazing Cruise Director Jayson (with a y) hosted a 60th Anniversary party on board the Discovery Princess, and I was blessed to be on board the ship for the celebrations. Two months after the cruise ended, I received an email from Princess Cruises with a message from Alessandro Genzo (the Captain of the Discovery Princess) containing the following video:
"For five decades, you’ve trusted us to the part of your most meaningful moments — from milestone celebrations and family holidays to quiet escapes and unforgettable adventures. Together, we’ve explored breathtaking destinations, shared countless sunsets at sea, and created memories that last a lifetime."
Happy 60th Anniversary Princess Cruises, and cheers to another fifty years of cruising in Australia.
