You're words have power!

There's a saying that goes, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit."  Our words have power, and we use our words to create our world because that’s how we got here.  This blog explains how our words causes things to happen because we are what we say.

In September 2014, I boarded the (late) Dawn Princess cruise ship at the Sydney White Bay Terminal for my maiden voyage; it was a two week cruise to the South Pacific, and my dream cruise.  The ships 'Ultimate deck party' took place the night we departed from Dravuni Island, Fiji.  The ships party band provided the music for the theme night, the creative team taught the guests different line dancers, and some of the made up routines were absolutely hilarious!

In 1981, the 80's Pop icon Billy Idol re-recorded the hit song 'Mony Mony.'  The ships band played the dance song at the party, and our Cruise Director got all the guests at the party to sing, "Come on every body let's rock this ship" after almost every line sung in the two verses below without knowing a future seed was being planted through their words.  The words in the two verses go:

Verse One:
"Here she come now sayin', 'Mony, Mony.'
Shoot 'em down, turn around, come on, Monyt
Hey, she give me love, and I feel all right now
Darlin'! You gotta toss and turn
And feel all right, yeah, I feel all right."

Verse Two:
"Wake it, shake it, Mony, Mony
Ah, shotgun dead, and I'll come on, Mony
Don't stop cookin,' cause I feel alright now
Hey, don't stop now, come on, Mony, come on, yeah."

There's another saying that goes, "What you sow is what you reap."  This is definitely so true because it's a fact that 'you’ll eventually get the desires of your heart!'  I say this because our words are the seeds, and like a farmer or a gardener; the things we plant into the soil of the Universe (especially what we say) will eventually sprout, and become reality so be careful what you say.  I say that to say this.

As well as COVID 19 (a cruise ship virus) which originally began Wednesday 5 February 2020 on board the Diamond Princess at the Yokohama Port in Japan thanks to an infected passenger who was on board the ship from the previous cruise; four months after my cruise ended in 2014, the (late) Dawn Princess was in New Zealand when a Gastro outbreak hit the ship because of their confession.  According to cruisejunkie.com; "About 200 passengers on the Dawn Princess were confined to their cabins due to a norovirus outbreak during a trip around New Zealand in December 2014. The ship alerted local health authorities and was heading to Australia at the time."  But that’s not all

On Saturday 28th February 2026, I boarded the Discovery Princess for a twelve night cruise from the Sydney Overseas Passenger terminal, Circular Quay to South Australia where cruising history was made because the ship visited Australian ports for the first (and only) time.  The ships 'Back to the 80's party' took place on the night the Discovery Princess was leaving Port Lincoln, South Australia.  The ships party band was playing the 80's song 'Mony Mony' as I walking in to join the party, and once again; our Cruise Director got all the party guests to sing the cursed words ‘Come on every body let's rock this ship’ without knowing that seeds were being planted because it happened again two months later.

The Discovery Princess is currently doing a 30-Night Transpacific Cruise.  The repositioning cruise was over booked because it was the ships final one from Sydney Australia.  According to Nautical Flocksome of passengers didn't know the ship was over booked until the day of their departure, and were asked to voluntarily give up their cabins at the Sydney Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay after traveling half way around the world to board the ship for the cruise.

Now, the guests safety is the cruise lines top priority so when the Cyclone came, the Captain  took action, and made the ship safe.  On Saturday 11th April 2026, the Discovery Princess arrived in New Zealand for the ships first stop.  The ship was originally meant to dock at Tauranga moved to Auckland.  This port eventually closed because of the storm, and the Discovery Princess moved to the protective cove in the Rangitoto Channel to escape the force of Cyclone Vaianu after dropping some passengers off.  The ship is due to dock at Auckland at approximately 4:30am on Monday 13th April 2026 when the storm clears to refuel, pick up more passengers, and then depart New Zealand for the tropics.

Because of all this, I now hate that song, and I’ve decided not to sing those words because of all the happenings.  If I ever become an official Cruise Director, I won’t get my team to sing ‘Come on everybody let’s rock this ship.’  Instead, I’ll change the words to, “Hey everybody don’t rock this ship” because I know my words have power, and if you’re a Cruise Director (or a Cruise Staff member), I’d like to encourage you to do the same because the universe will upset you.  It’s just something to think about for your future cruise events.
